Co-opted Governor: elected by the other members of the Governing Body
Term of office from 17 March 2020 to 16 March 2024
First appointed on 31 October 2011
Mrs Haroon is also a member of the Governing Body at Cranford Community College
I first joined the Governing Body at Cranford Primary School as a Parent Governor in 2011 when my eldest child was in Year 2. At the time I wanted to see all three of my children succeed and of course had a strong passion for education.
Ten years on, I am now a co-opted Governor, with an even stronger passion for education but with three children who have now left Cranford Primary School having had an absolutely strong foundation to build upon. However not only did I want to see my children succeed but I also wanted to see the children in my community succeed.
I have strong interpersonal skills which I believe are an asset when working with parents, staff and the Governing Body. Pre-Covid days I regularly visited the school and hold a good insight into the development of the children and the process and procedures adopted by the school. As we now return to normality, I will be prioritising the schools accountability for the well-being of the children and to ensure that there are interventions in place to assist the children in any learning gaps.
I help to decide the priorities for improving the school after analysing data, taking on board parents/teachers ideas and suggestions, taking account of them as I contribute to Governing Body meetings. I have worked in partnership with the Headteacher, the Senior Leadership Team and co-operatively with other governors to raise standards and improve outcomes for all children and look forward to continuing to do so.
With the pandemic and the ensuing issues, the last couple of years have been difficult, however I hope you agree that the school has adapted and with its excellent leadership has and will continue to maintain high standards.
