Physical Education at CPS

Welcome to our Physical Education and Sports Page.

At Cranford Primary , we believe physically educated children are ready for the challenges of life. PE and School Sport play a vital role in making our vision and values a reality for every pupil.

Participation in PE and sports gives children the confidence and skills to remain active throughout their lives. It creates long term strengths such as body confidence, emotional resilience, improved motor skills, leadership qualities and more.

Pupils in all year groups are encouraged to make active choices during their break and lunch times, with the availability of  playground equipment, vast spaces and several adults (Coaches and SMSA's) supporting them in a variety of games and activities.  Children are also encouraged to get involved in our extra-curricular clubs that we provide every day.

Through PE & Sport our children learn to develop discipline, resilience, communication, team work, and ambition; with the aim of leading to improved concentration, attitude, and academic achievement. Pupils take leadership by being warm up leaders for their class, and in the upper Key stage 2 classes children take part in Sports leader training to allow them to have a positive impact on sport and PE around the school.

Pupils regularly compete  within their Houses (Earth, Wind, Fire and Water) in Intra-School competitions as well as have the chance to represent the school in Inter-School competitions against schools all around the borough with the potential to reach the London Youth Games Finals.

We are delighted to have received the Gold School Games Mark for more than 5 years, and are seeking to achieve Platinum soon. Regular updates within the newsletter and in school communications allow our community to celebrate success with us.
