World Book Day

World Book Day takes place on Thursday 7th March 2019. This year, the children are invited to dress up as their favourite book character – the only limitation is that the character must be from a book - no TV or film characters please. We ask that your child bring in the book of the character they have dressed up as to stand a chance of appearing on our wall of fame! There are fantastic ideas online of costumes which can be easily made up using items from home!

You can join us in building your child’s enthusiasm for books well beyond World Book Day by reading together regularly and joining your local library if you are not yet members. We will also be having the Scholastic Book Fayre arrive in school the week after World Book Day – from Tuesday 12th March. Keep hold of your World Book Day vouchers as these can be used at the Book Fayre.

Book Swap Time!

This year, we are hoping to share the love of reading therefore we are asking for children to donate their old, used books to us. Every child who brings in a book will be given a token which can be used on Thursday 7th March to swap for a book. This will be an opportunity for children to experience more books for free. The book swap will be led by a group of Year 6 pupils who are eager to share their reading enthusiasm.

Please could all books be brought in by Friday 1st March to allow the ‘reading team’ to sort through them accordingly. We ask for books to be in a good condition so that the swap can be as effective as possible.
