Co-opted Governor: elected by the other members of the Governing Body
Term of office from 3 September 2019 to 2 September 2023
First appointed on 16 October 2012
My current role is Assistant Headteacher and SENCo at Cranford Community College. My responsibilities include coordinating provision for students with special educational needs with a focus on curriculum development and academic interventions such as provision for EAL learners, literacy intervention, strategic deployment of support staff and literacy across the curriculum. I have previously led aspects of teacher training within the school and taught within a feeder primary school to help raise attainment and outcomes. My experience and expertise equip me to work with children from a range of backgrounds with a variety of needs to ensure they achieve their potential.
I have two children of my own, which has enabled me to see primary school from a new perspective. My knowledge and experience are central to my role as a governor at Cranford Primary, namely helping to achieve the school's mission to 'set high standards and expectations' and to support Mrs Walia, and all staff to ensure that all members of the school community reach their full potential.
