Design and Technology
The children combined their music knowledge with their design skills to design and create a musical instrument from scrap objects (such as cardboard, empty bottles and dry rice). These included percussion, wind and string instruments. The children were encouraged to think about the sound their instrument would make and were challenged by how they could make different sounds. They had to consider how to construct their instrument to ensure that it was strong. The children also learnt about how we can reuse objects, instead of just throwing them away.
