Curriculum at CPS

At Cranford Primary School, we are committed to providing a holistic curriculum which maximises opportunities for creative, innovative meaningful cross-curricular links and learning experiences. We place great value on the development of children as individuals and providing our children with the skills, knowledge and understanding they need to develop into well-rounded, informed individuals.  Our aim is to build on children’s skills and experiences so they gain a rich diet of learning throughout their time at the school.  We place emphasis on diversity and tolerance, celebrating our amazing community.    Our aim as a school is to give children the skills and knowledge they need to be confident, independent and curious learners.

Please find below our Curriculum Intent - there is more information included on our approach to our 'KNOW MORE' Curriculum.

Knowledge Organisers

In the process of focusing on the content of our whole curriculum to ensure that there is a much greater emphasis on the ‘powerful knowledge’ that children need in order to truly understand concepts and also to enable them to apply that knowledge, knowledge organisers are the answer to provide this for our pupils. Knowledge organisers look at each subject and identify the essential knowledge that teachers feel are the children’s minimum entitlement.

Our 'Knowledge Organisers' are the ‘go-to’ documents outlining the essential knowledge that the teachers will be covering across a unit of work; including dates, key personnel, vocabulary, definitions, and other information.
