What are we learning this Autumn term?

English: We will be reading 'Oliver and the Seawigs' in Autumn 1 and 'The Iron Man' in Autumn 2. Through both books, they will be able to explore, interpret, respond and discuss the narrative. Pupils will build an imaginative picture of a fantasy world, based on real life experiences. This will be explored through role play and through writing in role. Pupils will write their own stories based on the story read from another character’s point of view.

Maths: We will be learning about:

Place value
Number work involving the four operations
Roman Numerals
Fractions and Decimals
Using & Applying what they learn, e.g. Word and real-life problems and problem solving

We will be spending time on Maths Mastery Problems for homework and during lessons.

Science: We will be learning about Living Things and Circuits and Conductors.

Topic: We will be learning about The Ancient Egyptians and History all around the world for our History this term.

Art and DT: We will be researching about Canopic jars and children will design their own Canopic jars.
